Doritos® Chili Cheese Dogs
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Doritos® Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla Chips
- 4 oz ground beef
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, minced
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1/2 cup canned pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup tomato salsa
- 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
- 8 hot dogs (6-inch)
- 8 hot dog buns, split and toasted
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
How to make it:
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- In a small bowl, lightly crush Doritos® Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla Chips into small pieces; set aside.
- In another small bowl, combine ground beef, chili powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet set over medium-high heat, add oil. Cook onion for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until translucent. Add seasoned ground beef and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until starting to brown.
- Stir in tomato paste. Cook for 1 minute. Stir in pinto beans, salsa and barbecue sauce; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cook chili, stirring occasionally, for 15 to 20 minutes or until thickened.
- Meanwhile, cook hot dogs according to package directions.
- Place hot dogs in toasted buns. Top evenly with chili and cheese. Bake for 3 to 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. Top with crushed Doritos® Nacho Cheese Flavored Tortilla Chips. Serve immediately.
Tips: For speedy preparation, use canned or prepared chili, reheating until hot and simmering. Substitute shredded Cheddar cheese with warmed nacho cheese sauce, if preferred.
